A shut- off valve (sometimes called a valve) is a type of shut-off valve with a gate made in the form of a valve that moves reciprocating along the central axis of the working medium flow. Like all types of shut-off valves, valves are designed to completely shut off their flow area, that is, the flow of the working medium, being a shut-off body. It is used on pipelines to stop the flow of the medium. If the valve has a special throttling valve for regulation, the valve is called shut-off and control.
A feature of the design of the shut-off valve is the supply of media in only one direction. One of the advantages of shut-off valves is the provision of good tightness, which made them widely used. An equally important advantage of the shut-off valve is full operability in conditions of high pressure drop (with a special shutter).
Shut-off valves and shut-off and control valves are widely used in steam condensate systems and thermal oil boilers.
